Alfred Valentine Allport and Amy nee Hill, later Biddle: Seaview Cemetery Block 8, Plot  148 & 149

Alfred Valentine Allport was born in 1869 to Alfred and Ellen.

Alfred, his father, arrived on the ship London on 10 April 1842 with his parents Thomas and Jane and their children, Alfred Valentine's siblings. Alfred’s father and Uncles, Thomas and Henry, were farmers  in Suburban South.2 His father is probably buried at St Barnabas Church in Stoke.

Alfred Valentine was in the 12th Nelson Regiment but was not involved in World War I.3

Alfred Valentine married Amy Biddle, nee Hill, in 1903.4 Amy Hill was born in 1870. She married John Wright Biddle and later, Alfred, on 21 May 1903 in Nelson.

Alfred died in 1938 aged 69 and Amy died 1945 aged 71. Alfred probably worked on the family orchard. There is an Allport Street off Seaview Road in Stoke.

Amy was the mother of:

  • John Wright Biddle,
  • Marjorie (Allport) Harley,
  • Alfred Evans Allport,
  • Eileen May(Allport) Giblin,
  • Frederick Arthur Allport,
  • Valentine Allport.5

  • Amy Hill married John Wright Biddle not John William Biddle as stated above. She had a son also named John Wright Biddle not William Penfold Biddle.
